Privacy — Teacher Innovation Platform (TIP)
Last updated September 29, 2026
TIP is operated by Evolved Academics LLC (“we”). TIP lets teachers describe a classroom activity in plain language, checks it against their school’s rules, and runs it for their students. This policy covers TIP only. The Evolved Academics website and ClassLens have their own policies.
TIP is in a limited pilot. It is not yet offered to schools generally.
What we collect
- Teacher account. When a teacher signs in with Google we receive their name, email address and Google account ID, to identify them.
- Google Classroom data, if a teacher connects Classroom. The courses the teacher teaches, the students enrolled in them, and the ability to create assignments and draft grades. Grades are written as drafts; the teacher decides whether to return them.
- Class rosters provided by the school, to match students to their TIP accounts.
- Activity results, such as scores in an activity a teacher assigned.
- What a teacher types to build an activity, and a record of each build and each action taken on student data, kept as an audit trail the school can review.
- Basic technical data (IP address, browser, timestamps) for security and debugging.
How we use it
Only to run TIP for the teacher and school: signing in, building and running the activities a teacher assigns, recording results, and sending draft grades to the teacher’s Classroom when the teacher chooses to. We do not sell data, show advertising, or build profiles of students. We do not use student data to train AI models.
AI
When a teacher asks TIP to build an activity, the teacher’s description is sent to an AI model provider to write the activity. Before it is sent, TIP automatically removes email addresses, phone numbers and ID-shaped numbers. Student names, rosters, grades and student work are not sent to the AI provider. Teachers are told not to type students’ names.
Student data and schools
Student information is treated as an education record under FERPA and California law (SOPIPA / AB 1584). The school remains in control of it. We use it only to provide TIP to that school, and a school may ask us to delete it at any time. TIP is intended for students 13 and older.
Who we share it with
Only providers needed to run TIP: Google Cloud (hosting and database, United States), Google (sign-in and, if connected, Classroom), and an AI model provider (the teacher’s redacted activity description only). We disclose information if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting
We keep data while the school or teacher uses TIP. A teacher can disconnect Google Classroom at any time from TIP or from their Google account settings. To have data deleted, email us; we will confirm deletion unless the law requires us to keep a record.
Security
Encryption in transit, encrypted credential storage, per-school data separation enforced by the database, and a record of every action taken on student data.
